ToggleThe Build
What sets this particular build apart is its minimalist approach to modifications. We’ve all seen the overloaded overland rigs packing thousands of dollars in gear, but in reality not many of us are the nomads living off the grid for weeks and making the real use of all that expensive stuff.
Instead of being overloaded with often unnecessary gear, this RAV4 features only the most essential mods that can noticeably improve it’s off road capabilities. With large all-terrain tires, a lift kit, it can go much further into the wild and open up the new destinations.
Lift
As with any off-road dedicated project, the lift and wheels are the most important upgrades. The ower settled with a 1.5-inch lift, achieved with a help of strut spacers (similar to Rough Country). This increase in ride height provides the RAV4 with improved ground clearance, frees up the space in the wheel wells to install larger wheels.
Wheels
Speaking of wheels, the owner decided to choose a set of striking Black Rhino Stadium wheels in black finish. With the 16×8 size and -10 offset. They not only change the look of the Rav4 but also allow installing tires with taller profile to air down in low traction situations.
Wrapped around these wheels are Toyo Tires Open Country M/Ts in 245/75R16 size, offering optimal traction in the most challenging conditions.
Gear
On top of this RAV4 you’ll notice the iconic Front Runner Outfitters Slimline II roof rack, which significantly improves the vehicle’s cargo-carrying capacity for extended adventures.
Keita has also added a few subtle, yet functional accessories to round out the build. An EGR bug guard protects the hood paint from debris, while a CURT hitch provides a mounting point for additional accessories, suc as the bike carrier, cargo basket or even a spare tire.
A generic side awning offers shelter during outdoor stays, and custom grille markers and fog light assemblies add both functionality and a personalized touch to the RAV4’s appearance.
