Ford Bronco Overland Build – Striking 2-door Wide-body WildTrak
The 6th generation Ford Bronco has become incredibly popular among off-roading enthusiasts ever since it went into production, and for obvious reasons. It’s got an attractive design, big tires, tall ground clearance, lockers, and impressive approach and departure angles, making it a top choice in the market of dedicated 4x4s.
Aftermarket manufacturers offer tons of various parts and upgrades designed to improve the capabilities of these rigs, but with the abundance of options, it’s pretty easy to get lost while trying to build a vehicle that perfectly balances form and function.
The 2022 Ford Bronco Wildtrak we’re featuring today is owned and modified by Brad Flowerdew, a commercial brand photographer from British Columbia who definitely has a good eye for colors and proportions. Unlike many builds that prioritize capability over aesthetics, Brad’s Bronco has a very strong visual appeal thanks to an ideal combination of striking tan exterior, amber/red lights, and blacked-out off-road add-ons.

ToggleQ&A With the Owner
How did you become interested in overlanding
– I’ve always been addicted to the outdoors. Getting to locations that aren’t easily accessible always offer peace and quiet. As a full time creative, I love spending sunrise and sunsets at locations I’m shooting, so having a rig that is reliable, and being able to camp out there is a game changer.
Which models have you considered and why did you choose a Bronco for your overland project?
– I knew I wanted to work closely with brands to build my Bronco into a one of a kind rig. The bronco 6G’s are relatively new, and there is a ton of brands out there still developing and releasing parts. As a brand photographer, my work mainly lies in assisting those brands launch their products successfully and grow their businesses. This was the perfect opportunity to not only build my dream rig, but also build relationships with clients.
What was the most difficult part of the build?
– This has been a huge learning curve for me, as I hadn’t had much previous experience with vehicle mods to this extent. The learning process was both challenging but exciting, and the most difficult part has been deciding what to do next!
What do you love the most about your Bronco build?
– I love that my build is so incredibly unique… there’s not a single other Bronco out there like it. It’s such a massive head turner, and people literally come up in the street and start chatting to me about it daily. Those conversations to me are worth so much more than “the hype” of owning a vehicle like this. Each conversation is an opportunity to make friendships, business opportunities, or just make someone’s day.
The community surrounding the Bronco’s is so awesome, and I’ve made a ton of great friendships over the course of my build.
I’ve got some big plans for the Bronco coming up, and I can’t wait to see where they take me!
Off-Road Mods & Upgrades
Even though Ford Broncos come incredibly well equipped right from the factory, there is still room for improvement, especially if you plan on using them for heavy off-roading.
The suspension is the focal point of any off-road worthy project, so Brad decided to tackle it first. He ditched the factory shocks and springs in favor of a Peak Suspension 2.5″ DSC Coilovers Trail Kit, which includes shocks with remote reservoirs. It’s a solid bolt-on kit designed for improved on- and off-road handling. Plus, it can be adjusted to gain an additional 2.5 inches of ground clearance for better tire clearance.
Speaking of tires, Brad chose a tried and tested set of 37×12.5R17 BF Goodrich T/A KO2 off-road tires, which makes the Bronco look and perform well on any type of terrain. The rims are 17″ Vorsteiner Offroad 601BL.
One of the biggest changes to the exterior is certainly the ADV Fiberglass 5″ wide-body fender kit along with the matching hood. It makes the Bronco look even more muscular and provides additional coverage for the large 37″ wheels.
To improve front-end protection and armor up the rocker panels, Brad installed a DV8 Off-road bumper and side steps.

Conclusion
Brad’s Bronco overland build is a perfect example of a good balance between the form and the function. The upgrades he did enhance both capability and aesthetics of this rig without compromising either. By carefully selecting each component to complement the vehicle’s desert tan exterior, he’s created an overlander that’s as visually striking as it is trail-ready.
