The Interview

What is your background in design, do you do it professionally or is it your hobby?

If I’m being honest, my background in design never made it past the confines of my room, but since a young age, I’ve always been interested in curating designs and themes to create things I can admire and share with people. This venture into concept off-roaders is more or less a hobby, and I can immediately think of a bunch of people who could do this way more professionally than me, but the interest in this area has always been the fun I have with the designs and seeing people share what they think.

Why off-road vehicles and where do you take the inspiration from?

My account originally started as an AI concept supercars account but slowly made its way into off-roaders through a few Dakar Porsche designs. The off-road scene here in New Zealand has blown up massively in recent times, and in a country like this, you can go from the beach to the mountains in no time at all, which only adds to the variation of adventures you can have. I’ve always taken inspiration from Carby Tuckwell from Deus Ex Machina as well as Jimmy Stansel who does Outlaw AI and originally inspired me to start making these designs.

What’s your favorite off-road vehicle and why?

My favorite off-road vehicle has to be the Suzuki Samurai; the name speaks for itself.

What’s your favorite mod that makes the biggest visual impact?

The favorite mod for visual impact has to be taking a truck to a track and getting some mud slung onto everywhere and everything. In all seriousness, though, everyone should look at a classic 2-inch lift and some larger-than-life tires.

What tools do you use to create these renders?

I use Midjourney and Photoshop.

What is the most difficult part of your renders?

The most difficult part of these renders is the time spent tweaking the imperfections created by AI and sometimes reconstructing the entire render in the most difficult cases, but in reality, there’s nothing hard to do; it’s mostly incredible fun!

What models do you plan to do in the future?

Models I might be doing in the future could be going into the Nissan range, but I also keep planning to do Toyotas for as long as I can.
