How we test?
Offroadium Verdict & Score Explained
We have created our own rating and classification system to differentiate and evaluate the off-road capabilities of vehicles showcased on Offroadium. Based on it, we can conclude the following:
Off-Road Capability Score: 45/70
Being a lifted 4×4 truck with oversized off road wheels (30 Points), it has a rugged body-on-frame construction (+5 points), Limited Slip rear differential (+5 Points), 4×4 drivetrain with low range transfer case (+10 points), this extensively customized Fuso FG scores 50 out of a possible 70 points in our rating system.
The rear limited slip differential assists with traction so we added 5 points for it, but the lack of the rear, front or center locker didn’t allow it to gain higher score. Nonetheless, the robust nature of a commercial chassis paired with thorough modifications makes this Mitsubishi Overlander more than capable of traversing difficult remote trails on expeditions.
Complexity Level: Pro
A prime example of an unlimited budget Pro-level build, no expense was spared to optimize this Mitsubishi for global overland journeys. The $399K asking price proves that only the highest quality components were selected, with meticulous attention to detail and custom fabrication throughout. The electrical system, climate control methods, and composite habitat go far beyond typical modifications seen even on advanced rigs. This is a turnkey tiny home rewarding adventurous owners with true go-anywhere flexibility most production RVs could never match.
Budget: $$$$$
With a nearly $400,000 asking price reflecting the immense scope of custom upgrades, this Fuso Overlander represents the top end of the budget spectrum. The extensive modifications transform it into a luxury expedition vehicle ready to handle the most demanding terrain on earth. While certainly not an inexpensive proposition, the quality and capabilities justify the hefty 5 out of 5 rating for those bitten by the overlanding bug.
Pros
- Luxury “tiny home” interior with high-end amenities
- Robust commercial chassis and diesel engine
Cons
- Very expensive, priced at nearly $400
- Large exterior dimensions (15′ long) could limit accessibility on tight trails
