Sad that you didn’t do a bit more research. You’d have found that there is quite an active KL community. That guy wasn’t “alone” he’s even posted in some of those KL focused off-road grouos. Also, how do you put a “body lift” on a unibody? That doesn’t work. The only ways to lift a KL are a spacer lift (of which there are many? Look up Hazard Sky and MFC Off-road for just the two better examples) and a Dobinsin’s (one b, not two) spring lift and shocks. Many, many, many people have put that size tire on their KLs also.
You should check out Cherokee KL S/M/A, Trailhawk Owners Group, and many others on Facebook. And youlll find that there is a small, comparatively, community of enthusiasts who modify their KL Cherokees in the same way as this guy, and a lot of them did it long before he did.
Hi Jeff, thank you very much for the heads-up! Of course, the “body lift” term only refers to the body-on-frame vehicles, which was incorrectly used as a substitution for “spacer lift”(it was corrected in the text). As for the lift height and components, looks like the information provided by the owner was slightly inaccurate, which caused a lot of criticism from experienced Cherokee KL owners. We did a small research on the suspension components used in this project and corrected the information in the post. Timothy used a 2” MFC spacer lift + Dobinsons lift kit combo.
I highly appreciate the feedback and hope that it will help other Cherokee KL owners to modify and enhance their vehicles in the right way.
Wanting to know as someone that has built many cherokees, how you body lifted a unibody vehicle. The biggest lift possible is 3” before you destroy cv axles. That’s a dobinsons, correct spelling, and either mfcoffroad 2” lift or a homemade. The KL called ripsaw was the only proven 4” lift and he didn’t go more then a month without destroying cv axles.
This article while not fact checked, is good in that it gives the KL platform publicity. As an ambassador for the Cherokee KLs, it is suggested that facts are checked before being published.
Owner of Midwest Jeep KLub. Cherokee KLs of the midwest
Hi Steven, thank you very much for your comment! We did additional research and fact-checked all the information provided by the owner. The suspension specs were corrected and updated in the post.
I would be glad to support your Midwest Jeep KLub on social media, feel free to share a link to your community!
Once again, I highly appreciate the feedback and hope that it will help other Cherokee KL owners to modify and enhance their vehicles in the right way.
